This is the Transformers movie from 1986. It takes place after Season 2 (During 2005, in a 1986 perspective, because they belived by now we'd have hoverboards and all of that cool stuff.) and was considered a part of the Television show continuity, as Season 3 took place directy after the movie. The movie is about the threat of Unicron and his tendency to consume planets. Several Autobots are killed including Brawn, Ratchet, Ironhide, Prowl, Beachcomber, Gears, Sideswipe, Wheeljack, Windcharger, and several more killed offscreen, such as Trailbreaker, Huffer, Hound, Sunstreaker, and Mirage. However, the Decepticons have much less casualties, and those who were on the brink of death, including Megatron, were reformatted into new Decepitcons. Megatron was changed into Galvatron, Thundercracker changed into Scourge, Shrapnel and Kickback changed into the Sweeps, idenical clones of Scourge for him to command, but there is controversy about whether Skywarp or Bombshell was changed into Cyclonus, because after the reformatting, there are two Cylonuses, as seen, but later, one of them disapears throughout the entire movie and then only one Cyclonus is seen in Season 3.

This movie was produced in 2007 and takes place in the present day. It was directed by Michael Bay. It revolves around the concept of the AllSpark, the Transformers life source. The Allspark was jettisoned into space by the Autobots so the Decepticons couldn't find it. Megatron left Cybertron in pursuit of the Allspark, and tracked it to a Blue-green planet called....Earth. However, the Earth's magnetic field messed up his navigation systems and he crashed in the Artic Circle, and was trapped and frozen in an Ice Cave. He was later discovered by a man named Capt. Archibald Witwicky when he fell down a crack in the ice and slid down into the Ice Cave containing Megatron. Convinced that he made a discovery, he tapped on Megatron's thumb, which re-activated Megatron's navigation system, and a map to the Allspark was imprinted on his glasses. He was later placed in the psycho ward because nobody belived his story of the "Ice Man", which was in truth, Megatron. His glasses were later passed down to his Great-grandson, Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf). The Autobots Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen), Bumblebee (Mark Ryan), Jazz (Darius McCrary), Ironhide (Jess Harnell), and Ratchet (Robert Foxworth) arrive at Earth and track Sam, knowing that the glasses hoding the map were in his possesion. However, he was earlier confroned by Barricade, a Decepticon, but failed to retrived the glasses from Sam. Later, after about an hour and a half of movie time, Megatron is revealed to be held in CyroStasis in a basement under Hoover Dam by the Above-top-secret organization Sector Seven to Sam and a few other individuals that unwittingly got themselves involved in the Transformers War. An agent of Sector Seven, Agent Simmons (John Tuturo) reveals that by reverse-engineering Megatron, they brought on the Modern age (Microchips, Automobiles, Jets, ect.). A 4-foot tall Decepticon named Frenzy infiltrates Hoover Dam and de-activates the CyroStasis sysytem, freeing Megatron after 40,000 years in suspended animation. Sam and the military concoct a plan to sneak the Allspark (Also being held in Hoover Dam by Sector 7) out of the Dam, into the nearest city (Mission City), and airlift the Allspark out of the city into Military hands, but the Sargeant, Lennox (Josh Duhamel) tells the Secretary of Defense, John Keller (Jon Voight) that they cannot make a stand without the Air Force because, loaded with 105 Sabot Rounds, can penetrate Transformer armor and harm them. So Keller, Maggie (An experienced analyst), Simmons, Glen (A highly experienced Computer Geek and hacker) to hot-wire a Computer and Transmit a signal through an old military console in morse code to the Air Force. Frenzy attacks them, but he is killed by his own throwing star and Glen gets the signal out to the Air Force. In Mission City, a large battle ensues and Megatron kills Jazz. Sam is instructed by Sgt. Lennox to go atop a roof and signal a squad of helicopters to airlift him out. Even though being chased by Megatron, the plan fails, as Starscream shoots a missile at the Helicopter and it is destroyed. Megatron confronts Sam, but Sam jumps off the roof and Prime catches him. After a long between the two leaders, F-22 Raptors swoop down and shoot at Megatron gravely weakening him, but Sam unloads the Allspark's power into Megatron, killing him. The remaining Autobots kill the other Decepticons, only Starscream escapes.
There will be a second movie coming out in 2009.

In television shows, there isn't much to say. The first televison show was unnamed during the time it aired, but was later dubbed Generation 1. Later, after a long period of drought in terms of Transformers products, a new CGI television show surfaced called Beast Wars, and its sequel televison show Beast Machines. After that, a Dub of a Japanese Transformers show called "Car Robots" aired under the name Transformers: Robots in Disguise, and later another dub with the american name Transformers: Armada. Then, a sequel to Armada aired called Transformers: Energon. A third sequel aired called Transformers: Cybertron, although in Japan, it was a completely different continuity. There is another television show in the works that isn't a dub of a Japanese show called Transformers: Animated and has the animators that were known for their production of "Teen Titans" to animated the show.
